Default keys!

right, i have a question, when i had a bmw x5, the battery in the key fob recharged whilst being used to start/run the car, so bmw advised to use one key for a month and then switch to the other to keep them both charged up. is this the case with scoobys? or do you just change the battery in the (bloody huge key) as and when it needs doing? btw its a 2009 impreza sti. cheers people!

Not sure on the later models mate, on earlier cars like mine they need re programming and can be done myself, but later ones???

Someone will be along shortly to correct me

are you on smart entry or a key ??

smart entry you can change the battery without re-programming the fob

Key type entry with single button, if the battery is dead you need to program both keys together. arm and disarm with a good key enter the following into the keypad *17856*991*2# and press each key once. job done

right hand side of the steering column there is a flip down flap about knee height open it up the keypad is located on that.

if the battery isnt completely dead and still works you have 3 minutes once the key is opened to change the battery, if you dont do it in said timescale you must re-program using the above sequence I listed in my first post.

Hope that helps

No i believe it is still the earlier version with the single colour led
arm & disarm with a good key or pin number then enter the following
*17856*91*2# followed by a press of each key
