Reverse vent or scoop?

Default Reverse vent or scoop?

Trying to work out which is better:


A reverse vent to force hot air out or the standard scoop to let cool air in?

I do like the way that the standard scoop forces cool(ish) air to the turbo and gearbox but then the reverse scoop will force the hot air out to essentially cool whole engine bay.

Which is best?

(incase it makes a difference, MY2000 Classic, vf35, fmic, Blitz sus, power fc, avcr, approx 320bhp)

I would keep the oem Scoop, air already passes in the front grills and air out the bottom, You don't want cool air on the turbo, you want to keep it as hot as possible, the heat is all energy. Only good to cool them down after a hard drive

The original scoop becomes redundant when you have a front mount, so a rear facing one is an option. Some folks hang an oil cooler up there in the air flow created by the top scoop. Frankly I think it looks crap up there and would always go reverse as an advice to a customer.

I remember asking harvey about this when I went FMIC
As I suspected harvey had done the research, and, for a road car, concluded it was best to stick with the scoop as is.

Harv was just being 'Scottish ' and keeping his purse strings tight. He wasn't fussed about looks [ of his car ] he just wanted performance.
