Default Issues with my WRX Classic

Hi all,

Having issues with the WRX.. 95 Classic import.

Had an issue with it back in October which ended up being a road site repair to get it home. This mainly consisted of removing the throttle body to fix a broken water pipe underneath it.

I've since replaced the gasket with a Subaru OEM one but when driving the car its got several problems. I have checked all the pipe connections on the car and all seem to be done up tight.

When started it idles at 1500 - 2000 RPM

when you try and rev it to pull away the revs drop and sounds like the car is trying to stall itself but does eventually pick up if you play with the throttle.

When accelerating to over 3K and the turbo kicks in you can hear a big "air sucking" noise from under the bonnet.

when I took the throttle body off there was no gasket but was sealed with instant gasket stuff.

Its only been like this since we had to do this road side repair.

Thanks

Might sound silly but did you torque it back down to the correct number?

Have you checked the intercooler or dv piping for any leaks / splits? You could have damaged some surrounding pipe work when replacing the gasket , just a thought?

i think you've answered your own question. youve got a leak somewhere around the throttle housing/intercooler area and this is causing un-metered air to enter the engine leading to poor running.
