Well this may help some other people if they've had a similar problem...

On my 2003 blobeye WRX I was having a surging type problem when in higher gears, the whole car would surge and feel like it was holding back, I tried numerous things to try to find the fault, nothing worked.

Today I took it to Martin @ Alan Jeffrey's who took a look at the car, and knew pretty much straight away where to look. The restrictor pill was too small, and was probably partially blocked, so a new larger one was fitted and the surging has gone!

I also asked for a shopping list to be made to get the car to around 350bhp+ which has been done, so now saving my pennies for that little lot, but for anyone who's had surging symptoms or hesitation then look at the restrictor pill first! So simple, yet overlooked by so many (a lot of people don't know it's even there).

I just cleaned my pipes and boost control solenoid when the forester did this.

Yeah. Seems a common fault, but one that stumps many. I asked on here, and other impreza forums, not one reply said to check the restrictor pill lol, so thought I'd out this up in case someone searches in future and needs the advice.
