Default CV joint options

hi all, after a bit of advice please

i have a bug eye sti which is is displaying signs of CV joint ware on the front, the car currently produces 360 bhp and is running a standard 5 speed transmission ( i know this is not ideal) can anyone give some advice about uprated CV's and where i may be able to purchase them

thanks

Definatly a 5 speed? The bugeye STI should have a 6 speed box. Is it Typo or do you have a wrx? Or maybe a mish mash of parts?

Ahh I see so a five speed in a newage Sti is a sign of a new box something to remember

Yep more than just the box. If a newage sti has a 5 speed its either a wrx pretending to be an sti. Or its had most of the drivetrain changed.
As the 6 speed box is stronger id be worried about a car that had been converted from 6 to 5 speed. Most are converting the other way round

Er mate, I think you're driving a modded WRX with STI kit on if it's a 5 speed.
Nobody in their right mind would change from the 6 to the 5, it just wouldn't make sense to do so!

Simple enough to tell - if the chassis number starts with GDB it's an STI. If not it's a WRX.

Secondly - for 360bhp you don't need an uprated CV joint the standard kit is easily up to the job, just go to import car parts and buy a replacement.
If it's the usual failure, it's the seals that have failed and it's leaked grease and is getting noisy?
HTH.
