Default Removing engine tomorrow

I’m going to be taking out my engine tomorrow as it needs some work doing.

It’s a 2006 Hawkeye STI with the 2.5 chocolate motor in it!

Just want to check a few things:

As it has air-con fitted, can you remove the pump and lay it where the battery sits so that it is out of the way and you don’t need to de-gas the system?
Can you leave the headers and turbo attached and just disconnect the air inlet and outlet pipes as well as the down pipe?
Can you remove the engine through the top by disconnecting everything and using an engine crane to lift the motor out?
Is there anything in particular that has to be removed i.e. radiator, to allow access for the motor to move forward to be able to release it from the gearbox?
Finally, can you lift the motor out by putting straps around the inlet manifold?

Thanks

Do you know about the clutch fork release pin?

Yeah, thanks to Wheeler Dealers!

Undo the hex inspection panel, wind in an M6 bolt and then remove the fork pin.

Well took the engine out yesterday and it went ok.

Firstly, the car has had the gaskets changed by the previous owner and whoever did the job, let one of the nuts off holding the downpipe to the turbo plus 2 bolts holding the gearbox on to the block! Also, someone cross threaded one of the gearbox bolts into the block!!! Hope this can get sorted.

Now, time to strip everything off it to send the block away to have forged pistons and possibly uprated rods fitted along with race bearings, 11m headstud kit and modified oil pump.

Whilst the engine is out, is there anything that I should do?

I am thinking about fitting uprated steering rack bushes (it already has anti-lift kit plus whiteline ARB). Is it worth it?

Also, thinkng about fitting a new silicone inlet pipe from the airbox to the turbo.

Should I be looking at things like TGV delete or doesn't mine have it?

What about inlet manifold spacers to lift the manifold?

I am going to be removing the secondary air pump system whilst it is out.
