Default Advice needed for Engine change

Long story short, bottom end knocking as of yest. I can get hold of 1998 engine cheap. I have been told that the engine wont fit into my 55 reg Sub WRX Blob eye 2.0 turbo but also been told off the same person that the bottom end on the replacement engine can go on my heads. So can anybody else confirm that a 98 replacement engine have its bottom end taken off and go onto my original engine heads?

Cheers

The heads off your 55 plate blob will fit the 98 bottom end ,just change all the cam belt sprockets off the 55 plate engine esp the crank shaft sprocket

Not 100% certain but I would imagine that the ecu will run diff on 98 compared to 55 plate ie piston timings etc possibly be diff not quite as bad if you use heads but bottom end failure would possibly be premature/ very premature as I don't something similar myself as was told the same hope this helps mate look for an exact match if it were me just end up spending more in the long run.
