Default No boost!!! Please please help

1999 T reg Impreza 2000 turbo saloon

Bought the car last month, was told it had new turbo (got a reciept for month before bought car) but wasnt switched on (1st time iv ever had a turbo any was non the wiser!)

When you start up the boost gauge inside the car reads -0.5.....and no matter how fast i go how much revs i give it, it just wont go any higher than just below zero!

The turbo does look as though it is new. When i bought the car it didnt run great and was slower than a tank, i have since: replaced the MAF and boost solenoid and put the original air box back on instead of the hks filter it was fitted with when bought...aftrr doing that the car seemed a little faster and ran better but still no boost. I then reset the ECU (engine management light flashed irregular so that apparantly means theres something wrong) after the reset though the car is now much quicker a much better drive and even seems to be saving on petrol than before......still no boost though.

I cant finds any air leaks and the pipes seem fine, there is no smoke from the exhaust and the car runs well!

Iam absolutley lost for what to do except replace the turbo???? Any ideas, anything at all??????

read the error codes stored on the ecu and report back, this may or should point towards what the issue is.

Would be my guess something is plumbed wrong somewhere bud, do a google search on the vac lines and check they match how yours is plumbed, it's a start before you go diving in to other things, if it is the actuator then perhaps it's not been set correctly and if your only running actuator pressure then that could be the cause

Just checked the ecu error codes manually,

Code 22 - knock sensor
Code 23 - MAF sensor curcuit
Code 44 - turbocharging pressure control signal

Going to research these now but if you can give any advise that would be fantastic, thank you
