Default classic exhaust advise

hi,
long story, but i my car wont pass its mot due to the decatted downpipe, brought another cat for the cat, fitted it then realised the lamba sensors are different, 1993-1997 sensor after cat, 1998-2000 before the cat, dont want to **** about with the wires.
i have found a new cat from a shop online, issue is they also sell a second cat in the centre pipe. i was under the impression it was only the downpipe catted on a classic. do i need to buy both or will the downpipe alone be enough for the mot?

so in short, should a late classic have two cats or just the one? i know the newer cars have two and sometimes 3.

Classics:

UK - 2 cats, 1 in downpipe & 1 in centre section

WRX/STI - 1 cat in downpipe.

Only need the downpipe cat to pass MOT (providing it is up to scratch).

I thought all classics had 1 o2 sensor in the top of the downpipe.

The older ones have a 2 pin o2 after the cat on the downpipe, and my new has a 4 pin before the cat just behind the turbo- from what i have worked out

mines a Uk, well its passed the last few decatted so runs nice and clean (only just pass but with a few little short cuts a pass was a pass). but new vosa rules state that it needs to have a cat now if it was made with one, rather than just passing to me ok
