Default wrx bug eye 2001,,,turbo Qs

hi got my old bugeye back...the problem is the turbo doesnt feel like its working as it should....the oil was low and the boost falls from 0.7bar as it doesnt hold the boost that long. plus when coming in to boost .turbo makes a squealing noise when on boost well i think its the turbo..the car is standard apart from a forge dv and a s/s exhaust from cat...av checked all boost and vac pipes and there ok.....the engine light it on but this car had the same prob when i had it. is there any one near barrow in furness that can have a look? any info or help would be greatfull

This means your front O2 lambda sensor is faulty/knackered

Contact this company which selling Denso O2 sensors

http://www.worldcarparts.co.uk/CarPa...S/Default.aspx

Not sure about the noise, but can be the air/boost leak.Assume you are still running TD04 and still running OE inlet pipe

What gauge you are using,electronic/electrical or mechanical?

If its mechanical those usually have some sort of noise and about the turbo,if its your car is mapped usually on full boost you can/should see 1.3-1.4bar,if its not mapped usually 0.8bar on full boost

TD04 usually not holding the boost well,if its mapped or not mapped

I don't think your turbo is knackered,I would check the inlet pipe if its not shutting under boost etc.

Hi there

If you are hearing noise like hoover, this can be simply noise of the induction kit(or K&N/Green cotton panel filter)

I don't think is your turbo,if its turbo on your WRX then is TD04L usually cost around £50-£80

About the someone in Cumbria, don't know, but I'm sure on this forum someone will help you without the problem

This your boost readings are standard for unmapped car, with remap you should be have higher boost values...

have you thought of taking it to a subaru specialist instead of faffing about on here. while there is a wealth of knowledge on here, a good subaru mechanic or mapper would be able to diagnose and fix the problem without all this guesswork

+1.
I had a squealing noise on my old bug WRX and it was the up pipe and header gaskets blowing, but it could be any number of things.
I'd also do the most obvious and remove the dump valve - they're generally pointless unless you've gone FMIC, and won't do the car any favours if not mapped in.

not sure if this helps but ive got a 2002 jdm bug and mine makes a squealing noise under boost, i had been told this is due to the VF30 turbo but ive kinda got used to, i also had a lost of boost and after loads of messing around i found the pipe from the bottom of the intercooler had a hole in, once replaced it runs fine and boosts to around 07-08 unmapped
