Default 10/11/12 mm oil pumps

just been thinking about an upgrade on my oil pump iv heard about the whole increase in pressure thing with adding the washer under the spring but what i want to know is where can you get hold of an 11 or 12mm pump im lead to believe theyre standard to the bugeyes and blobs? is that correct? also what else can be done to modify them?

Can i ask what problems people have had running a larger capacity pump. It the a problem with the oil returning to the sump in time?

Yes and I think there can be problems with the relief valve overworking. Try asking on 22b forum

so at 330-350 bhp id be alright running the normal 10mm pump? is it worth taking it off and giving it a clean or anything and sticking in the extra washer under the spring? thanks mike

if you want peace of mind send it off to api , they do recon ones on an exchange basis. when i had my engine rebuilt i was asking the same questions as you and after speaking to a reputable engine builder i was basically told the oil pumps are actually quite reliable and the big end problem is rarely down to the pump after all. my pump was reused as i didnt have a big end failure before the rebuild but the tolerances were checked and the rotor was checked for scoring. i cant comment on what condition your pump is in but if its had regular oil changes and the screws havent come loose it should be fine.

speak to your mapper about your set up, he will advise the correct size pump to use. AVCS heads are one of the main reasons for changing to a higher capacity pump.
