Just bought a MY05 STi with 56k and FSH and after getting it home, I swear I can hear a very small knock when I give it a tiny bit of throttle. After 1500RPM it's gone - just sounds like a little rattle.

Anything to be worried about? Just did an oil & filter on it for peace of mind and it's not any better - I stuck Millers CFS 10/60 in it.

95% says I'm just being paranoid given that it disappears almost immediately as it climbs the revs - but maybe it's the start of something or do they all sound like this?

Could it be the injectors in need of a clean

I had something similar and it was my turbo heat shield loose

Don't think it's injectors - wouldn't they be noisy all the time?

Will take a look at the heat shield.

if your thinking engine knock its a very specific metallic knocking noise. unless theres a reason to suspect it, its unlikely.

The injectors make a soft 'sipping' sound at tickover, can be a bit disconcerting if you're not familiar with it, could be that.
