I sometimes get relay type noises especially at light throttle applications... has happened on all three of by Bugs. Never really considered it an issue

Boost solenoid? Mines the same, it's quite annoying actually.

Could be, I guess... the BCS is bolted to the suspension turret on that side so the noise could be finding it's way along through the bulkhead etc. I'd always thought it was a relay under the dash.

I get that on my bug as well and as matt said its quite annoying. Just a second question on this subject could the problem be solved by fitting a three port boost solenoid?

Not sure but I'd guess not as a 3 port is still a solenoid at the end of the day
