subaru impreza classic fuel gauge help
hi all im trying to figure out of my fuel senders up the wall or not basicly if i put £20 of super in my car i get between the first line and quarter of a tank does this sound about right as im sure in my old classic i used to get quarter of a tank for around £10 the same as most other cars ive owned and £20 usually gets you between quarter and half mark , its just annoying me trying to figure out if its faulty or not
ive had the sender out of the tank to check if the contacts were ok and wireing etc everything looks to be ok float looks fine not bent or anything it has had an uprated fuel pump fitted to suit the mods im running next step was going to be brim it and see if i actully get a full tank or not but didnt want to incase i change the sender

Have the dials been changed on your car?
I found that my dials had been changed, and when you change the dials you have to remove the needles from the gauge. Unfortunatly someone had put the needles on in the incorrect position. So the only way to get the fuel gauge to read correctly was to fill the tank up and then put the needle back on in the full position. Reads fine now!

sounds like u have a turbo 2000...? If so it sounds normal u must be always low on fuel . I found with mine when putting fuel in from say empty ie fuel light on I needed to put £30 in to get the gauge up some.
The above about the clocks possibly being changed would only apply if the car is prefacelift!

mine is a 99 UK turbo 2000 facelift. My clocks are also standard, i guess the previous owner removed the other ones before they sold the car. all my gauges were reading wrong, rev counter/fuel and water temp. I normally fill my car up so ive not noticed what you guys are experiencing above.
