Default Exhaust gas temperature

How important is it to keep track of the exhaust gas temperature for a slightly tuned GC8 engine, and within what limits is a good temperature?

I wouldn't say its of great importance, It will let you know if your car is running lean as you will get higher temps but IMO an AFR gauge is better for this, If you are running anti lag it could come in handy as this increases temps a lot when used but for a mildly modded motor I wouldn't say it's a necessity , From what I can remember 900/1000c of prolonged use could possibly start to cause head/valve damage but don't quote me on that
