Default Help please scooby lovers

Hi all

Ive changed the exhaust from the turbo back today. After 3 heavy showers its finally done except now it feels slower then what it was. It had a standard system on it and it now has a 3inch decat all the way back. Ive noticed theres a few fumes coming from the turbo as well.

Whats your opinions guys n girls?

I prosume it's leaking so will feel slower
Have you mapped it after exhaust swap
What power is your car at?
As 3" might be overkill poss better 2.5 dePending hp

What gaskets you are using?

Assume you are using OE steel gaskets or you are using supplied "paper" gasket ?

Second thing you will need this get mapped or get this checked

With 3" exhaust you can loose torque on yours,2.5" is good enough up to 400bhp and beyond that

On a standard car even a 2.5inch exhaust can make it feel slower.I know from experiance. It shouldnt be slower when on boost, but pre 3000rpm youve lost all that back pressure which on a standard car gives you more low down torque. With a turbo back 3inch system your gonna need a remap to get the best from it

I was always told that with a turbo car you should get the gases out of the engine as quick as possible. Therefore the bigger the better?
Maybe your car feels slower as the car maybe sounds noisier at lower speeds so your mind thinks that at a given noise it should be doing X miles per hour?

As your engine is standard and not heavily modified I'd get a 2.5 and most definitely get it mapped afterwards.

Right ive done some digging and sorted the lack of power. I forgot to do the jubilee clip up on the Y pipe on the turbo to the intercooler. I know pretty stupid. Ive also looked into why the fumes are leaking. Ive just got home, turned the engine off and for 15mins there was a white steam coming from the engine bay even with the engine off steam was still leaking so it looks like the heat shield aint doing its job to well.

Anyone know where i can get a turbo blanket from??

Steam or smoke?
If smoke then the heatshield won't stop any exhaust smoke leaking, it will either be leaking from the gasket or you have a hole in your exhaust.
