Default induction kit help

I have an 04 plate blob sti. recently purchased an induction kit. ive put the kit on today. However when the mafs plugged back in the car switches off and wont start. The car starts and runs fine when the maf is in the standard airbox with the top of the box off. jst a test i did to check if maybe its because its letting to much air in so is therefore pumpin to much fuel to match and stalling. but its fine. anyone had this.

maybe a silly question, but when you screw the maf sensor into the induction pipe have you put it in the right way round. so that plug is at the front of the car?

ye m8. plugs at the front. itl only go on one way. Could it be because the filter itself is a open cone rather than a solid filter??

No mate it won't be that , it does alter fueling but not to that extent , your a/f learning could possibly be out a little but should be in range enough for the ecu to adjust So it would drive without to much issue

Have you driven the car to let it adjust ,

It doesnt rev. jst cuts out straight away. runs fine with the maf disconnected. Even with the top of the airbox off.

Is the afm sticking through the inlet pipe enough , all I can think is it's not picking up , either facing wrong way , which you said you've checked , not protruding into the inlet enough , or a restriction in the filter /pipe somewhere , there's nothin stuck inside somewhere is there ?

The mafs in against the plate with the two screws. The kits fitted using the s bend from the kit which has the maf plate. Its then mounted in the bottom half of existing airbox so it still gets a cold air feed. theres only the pipe and the filter so no restrictions there. is it getting too much air i.e changing the filter for a smaller one? I had the k&n typhoon kit on my bug sti. no problems at all and a very similar setup

I'm not understanding how this set works tbh
So you've still got your air box on ?
No filter size won't make your car not run as long as your afm is in place it would run with no filter
If its the kit I think you would be best to mod it anyway
Can you post a pic
I've got one on mine , the s bend type and they do mess with the maf , it's better cut down straight , the afm gets a more constant reading , or bin it and get a k&n
Summat seems not right mate

Sounds more like you have dislodged a vacuum pipe or two in the process.

When the kit was delivered the filter came attached to the chrome pipe already. what i didnt realise is that the filter was on to far. Because its an open cone filter. the induction pipe was blocked. Therefore getting no air.
