Default P0607 control module limp home mode

Car went into limp home mode with the cel on this evening pulled over and gave the engine a once over nothing seemed wrong Restarted the car and the cel light was still on but the car drove fine. Got the local garage to check the code and it flaged up p0607 control module, we cleared the fault and all is fine for now Any ideas what caused it, this may be unrelated but I fitted a bailey Vta yesterday could this be the problem? I removed it tand put the standard valve back on just encase

My car it a 2005 55 hawkeye sti with 36k and a fssh with no mods...!

Cheers guys look forward to some suggestions

Could have been, as with the VTA the fueling would be messed up as the MAF says it is getting X amount of air so the ECU gives the engine a set amount of fuel but when you close the throttle the VTA dumps some of the air so you are now running rich. IMO

A quick google search says its to do with throttle control, possibly cured by a dealer software update.

It never came back, I got the car remapped a week or 2 afterwords with a gfb vta, however it turned out that my head gasket had gone not sure if this was related though but worth checking.

How do you check for head gasket?
Heaters?
Mayo in coolant ?
