Hi Guys, just after abit of advise.
my engine managment light came on recently with fault code 22 knock sensor, i removed the sensor gave it a clean and also the top of the block put it back on and after a mile or so i had the engine light back on again.I then went and brought a new knock sensor put it on the car and after 4/5 miles the engine light came on again with fault code 22, i then had another knock sensor put it on the car and now i get the engine light flickering on and off occaionally not all the while and when its on its literally for a couple of seconds then it goes off again

What could this be or what else could i check?

car is a 1999 uk turbo

cheers

Possibly the MAF or O2 sensor playing up, dodgy MAF could cause lean running and det hence the knock maybe the same with the O2 sensor, best to get it checked by a specialist as it could become expensive......

take it to a tuner rather than run round the engine bay trying to find the fault, a decent one will have spares they can test to identify the exact problem.

not tight enough or too tight??? they do have a certain torque, aslo for some reason the wire off the sensor is supposed to point a certain way.

Nothing on the engine lose like heatshields? Have heard that the rattle from these can cause issues.

lol mine was the opposite, its been playing up so give the block and bottom of sensor a light sand and torqued it up to what it should be instead of my usual mega tight and its been ok for the last week.

do a search for the torque setting, i think it was 24nm which is probably close to 17lb/ft, not as tight as i expected put it that way
