Is it corroded?

What sockets are you using ? In my halfords pro set there are a small number of flat edged sockets - not sure of the exact name. These will be far better if the nut/ bolts are corroded as there is less chance of slippage.

Have you had a decent length breaker bar on it?

If your really stuck as said above get an angle grinder on the job- would be my last resort though personally .

Some times theres little choice. I have a 3inch air grinder. Ideal for that sort of thing. Or as above a nut splitter.

A good breaker bar should shift it though
