Changing the restrictor pill results?
Evening people.
Quick question about the title.
What would the outcome be if changing the restrictor
Pill in a MY02 WRX from a 1.2mm to the STI 0.9mm? Am i gonna be slamming fuel cut alot?
I bought a dump valve which had a alot of tubing bits in. An then i found one with a restrictor pill. Its off a newage sti?
Just curious?

just found this info on another thread.
it appears the 0.9mm restrictor is in the JDM WRX, and the UK/EURO STI?
So it should be ok shouldnt it?
MY93-96 ... 3 port solenoid 2.0mm restrictor fitted into the vent pipe between solenoid lower port and intake
MY97 (Euro) ... 2 port solenoid 1.2mm restrictor fitted between the turbo and the tee piece
MY97 (JDM) ... 2 port solenoid 0.9mm restrictor fitted between the turbo and the tee piece
MY98 (Euro) ... 2 port solenoid 1.2mm restrictor fitted between the turbo and the tee piece
MY98 WRX (JDM) ... 2 port solenoid 0.9mm restrictor fitted between the turbo and the tee piece
MY98 Sti 4 ... 3 port solenoid 1.5mm restrictor fitted between the turbo and the solenoid adjacent to the solenoid top port
MY99 (Euro) ... 2 port solenoid 1.2mm restrictor fitted between the turbo and the tee piece
MY99 (JDM) ... 2 port solenoid 0.9mm restrictor fitted between the turbo and the tee piece
MY00 (Euro) ... 2 port solenoid 1.2mm restrictor fitted between the turbo and the tee piece

i played around with different pills and found the original was the best i tryed 1.1 1.0 & 0.9 they gave more boost but seemed as it came on to quick and fizzled out

how do you me fizzled out?
I was hoping the ecu would compensate for the difference. im not actually thinking of raising boost. just lowering it a little were it comes in. boost spools by 3.3k. but seems to step up an get strong (peak power) by 5k.
Was just hoping to lower that a little?

sorry should of said mines a classic and work different to yours eg smaller the hole higher the boost on classics and other way around on yours.
when i say fizzled out i meant it came on stronger and lower but seemed flat high revs
