Default Which clutch for 400bhp?? Except twin plate?

Hi guys
Well I'm after a clutch for my classic future power will be about 400bhp what clutch will be good for this I don't want a twin plate as the sound does my head in.
Also is a lighten flywheel needed for a road car do the lighter flywheels help??
Any advice would be great

Not a paddle but is a fair bit stiffer than standard using an organic driven plate ....

Hmmm, when are you planning on fitting said clutch?
Point being is that you can do it after your engine rebuild but then you need to take into consideration if you are going to rebuild your gearbox to take the power or if you are going to go 6 speed?
Either way I wouldnt go for a paddle clutch, and a decent clutch to take a fair amount of torque wont be cheap, check the prices first but your gearbox will need to be taken into consideration I think, but AP or Helix are good makes, look at over 700 quid for a decent one though.

Twin plate is an overkill for 400hp but if the budget allows go for it! At 400hp,I would be looking at an AP Racing clutch, Exedy pink box or Helix organic kit

I thought i could get away with a lesser clutch as i was't going for big bhp

I changed my Exedy pink box after 2000 miles because I couldn't stand the judder any longer. The AP I replaced it with feels like standard & has taken plenty of stick.

i no what you mean, the juddering drives you mad! i couldn't be leave how much better the ap one was over the exedy, the first exedy was in the car for about 5k then had it removed to see why it was so bad and have a new fly wheel fitted to see if that stopped the judder, when removed the clutch was fooked,it had'nt been clamping right.
so then had new flywheel and exedy clutch fitted and still had judder,so about 3k later had exedy removed and ap racing fitted on the same flywheel, and guess what no judder what so ever and ive done about 8k now and still no judder!

i would go for the ap single plate clutch, worked fine on my 500+ fat heavy newage, apparantly somebody is using one in a 750+ newage, might be fantasy island though

Im running my ACT at over 500bhp and around 475ft/lbs has had a lot of drag launches and abuse. Import from the states yourself or try Bren @ Apex performance

Do you have the part number of the clutch and did you get it from the states?
