Default vf35 ????

ok so i might be able to get my hands on a decent vf35 . so putting the remap on hold for a bit.
questions i have are
how laggy will this be compared to my td04?
what mods will i need to support this turbo? (ive already got a walbro 255 and full decat)
what sort of power increase can i expect?
will my current standard injectors be ok ?
cheers people
Darren

Dont agree with you there really Brun, you will feel the lag more low down but it will pull much stronger than a TD04

Standard bhp with VF35 on top mount and 440cc injectors would be no more than 320bhp, but with a few mods and a bit of jiggery pokery 360bhp is possible.

Boost creep is caused by the wastegate port choking, it is not a real issue on the std setup with the cats but on a decat the exhaust gas flow is increased in volume and speed and the std size wastegate port is too small to allow for full control of the turbo, the only way to cure it is by porting out the wastegate port, it cannot be mapped out as it is a mechanical restriction and the 3 port solenoid will have no effect on the boost creep, however a 3 port will offer better boost control once the creep is sorted.

Dont be put off by the wastegate porting, its an easy job and the turbo is very strong and capable.

Cheers Iain

so worth getting the wastegate ported before i fit the turbo?

Defo get the porting done prior to fitting, 300bhp is well within your current setup + the VF35, as mentioned earlier defo think about nkg pfr7b plugs, 550cc injectors would be a bonus if you plan to go for more bhp in the future but 320bhp is well within the reach of the std 440s.

Cheers Iain

I went to a Vf35 and fmic in a very short amount of time and other than the large hike in power, I thought it wasn't too far removed from the 04

Yes you will have a hike in power as it is a bigger turbo , but as tony says will be more laggy than a td04. I fitted a brand new td04 to my 99 car and it use to start to spool up at around 2400 rpm. Vf 35 will be closer to 2,900.

Like i say - i have gone from a TD04 to a VF35. I'm just trying to say, it was not "too" different regardless of numbers

so im going go with the vf35 and get it ported as suggested by iain .
might go with the japspeed fmic to go with the turbo seems a pretty decent kit at a good price .
is it worth it or will my tmic be ok . i do worry about heat soaking!
thoughts or advice on these intercoolers please ???

Talk to Harvey Smith on here about his headers and up pipes. I've got a VF35 with harvey's headers and up pipe and the boost comes on about 100rpm later than the old TD04.

just my 2p's worth.

I have a VF35 turbo (on as standard) and have a full decat exhaust, and I don't have any issues with boost creep. my boost print out from my mapper shows nice and flat at higher rpm...

does boost creep only occur on these turbo's if you add them as an aftermarket?
