Hi i have just had my clocks changed from kmh to mph on testing it to make sure limiter was lifted my steering went light very light at 60+ like that bad i was scared to move steering wheel left or right felt like the front end was on ice. When i got home gearbox had slight wine and on both left and right full locks there was a banging noise, any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked fluids? If its a classic the power steering pumps had issues. I had similar thing and was told I'd new to replace whole pump by Subaru yet a £2 o ring solved the lot in the pump.

speed sensitive steering on these?
if it is then my guess is speed sensor is getting the wrong signal... more than likely due to the mod you mentioned
