Default MOT - changing exhaust

The laws in Northern Ireland have changed and you must now have a CAT. bugger

Currently I have a full 3" miltek system with decat downpipe. Does anybody know if my standard downpipe (which is in the shed) with CAT will fit back on??

Or will I have to buy a Miltek sports CAT?? (These are a clean fortune)

Chris

If you put the std cat back on ,then you should still be able to connect it to your centre section. You dont use a donut gasket, just a 3' flat gasket to join centre pipe to downpipe iirc.

The standard downpipe is 2.5" dia tho. Do you think it should still fit?

That is the internal diameter for the ring donut which normally accompanies your downpipe . The external diameter of your ring donut is 3' so you should be able to just bolt it together with a flat gasket providing your alignment holes are not offset.

The mot says you have to have a cat can you just put the center cat back on which is much simpler and leave the downpipe de-catted!?

Putting the secondary cat on is a hell of lot less hassle than changing your downpipe imho, however you would need to put your old system on from centre section to backbox to make it fit as it is 2.5'
Failing that buy a 3' system with a sports cat for £160 and sell your miltek system for £200 and lose minimal performance & never worry when mot time comes up.
