Exclamation 6-SP vs. 5-SP WEIGHT...???

Specifically, can anyone furnish me with the weights of:-

* MY08 STi Hatch non-DCCD 6-sp.

and

* MY99 STi 5 non-DCCD TY754 5-sp.

I am aware that the 6-sp is pretty much double the weight of the 5-sp - just want to put some numbers to it...

Cheers

Interesting figures in weight between 5/6 speed out of interest if a 5 SPD box weighs 60 kg what extra weight is involved with the 1-4 ppg ? I would imagine its slightly heavier .

The PPG still isnt as strong a gearset as the 6 speed, you also have to take into consideration that the casing is considerably stronger on the 6 speed than on a 5 also.

API keep low miles Hatch STi 6-sp's in stock - if/when my 5-sp goes, I'll prob just have one fitted there as a drive in/out option (most of a day to fit).

Albeit I'd by c.4k lighter. But at least it'll be warranted and not likely to have the famous synchro failing (can't remember which gear the weak one is).

Thing is, once that's done, I'll then be chomping at the bit to get a built motor in there... for serious horse!

Hehe I knew you'd be sniffing around...

But yeah prob.

But it'd be a long way off I'm afraid. I'll prob opt for a API built 2.5 with Supertec internals and a SC46 SS Billet (given up on TS)... Or even a SC54 Billet!

Tony you are still think 6 speed is strong,but you can break too 6speed on 400bhp.Just depends how you ar drive,Harvey run on his 570bhp+ TY754 without the problem
We are running PPG at 490bhp and is faultless
Nothing is bullet proof
