STi V4 1998
Hi there
It finally happened I have come to Scooby Net for help!!!
I have a 1998 STi Version 4....
I believe it to have an over fueling problem..
When I start it, I need to wind it over for sometime before to eventually fires in to life and for the first few seconds stinkes of fuel..
Once running no matter if hot or cold, turn it off it will restart straight away. Leave it 3-4 Minutes and again it will ned to crank over for 30 - 40 secs or more before firing up and stinking of fuel.
When running at idle it hunts and the revs fluctuate and some times it stalls when stopping at junctions. When driving she seems absolutely fine.
although maybe sometimes a bit hesitant.
I have scoped the MASS sensor, the Crank sensor, the TPS sensor and changed the Temp sensor all of which seem ok. Any ideas welcome, I am trying to avoid the rolling road at the moment..
Cheers

For the starting problem I'd first get your battery checked. If the battery is on the way out it will do this. Halfords "I think" will do it for free.
The hunting I would say is MAF. They are sh1te on the age of car.

^^^^^^ Mafs are not sh1te on a 98 sti. They are probably one of the best mafs on a classic.
It should be an orange label on your car.
Best get it checked as it could be numerous things..

I have Scoped the maf sensor and the cam sensor, yes f4la k... it is an orange one and it scoped up fine showind 1.5v at Idle and breaking 4v at full throttle. the battery is perfect and I have a battery tester... The problem is My Snap on Modis will not read the STi ECU and therefore I cant read live data.....
