Default Strange noise after decat

Just had a full decat and remap done and have a strange noise coming fron the exhaust, sounds like the normal turbo whitle but its being interrupted at the same interval as the cylinder strokes. Also have strong fume smells coming in from the vents when stationary. Smells more like burned but rich fumes rather than raw petrol vapour.

No loss of power and ssemingly no leak from the exhaust at all which was my first thought.

Also had a walbro fitted at the same time but no smell coming from boot area to explain fumes smell.

Anyone else had the same issue?

Car is a MY05 WRX.

Any comments appreciated.

Cheers,

Peter.

Had the smell issues , assumed it was due to the decat , had a Walbro fitted too. Speak to your mapper about the stutter , u have a boost gauge ?

Smell could be penetrating oil burning off, assuming your mechanic used it to aid removal of your old downpipe.

Certainly expect it to burn off after 800 miles.
Looks like you probably have a gasket leak in the exhaust somewhere
