Default Water

I have just bought a impreza wrx import. How often should I be checking the water as today I went for a bit of a drive luckily noticed when I got back the water temp was going up so checked and surely enough water was really low. I checked the only few days a go and it was fine. I have looked and doesn't seem to be any leaks from what I can see. I am new to owning a Subaru so any suggestions welcome?

Cheers

Jay

First fault with my scoob when I bought it was the same. Found it was a crack in the rad's plastic on the side where the top hose fit's about 3 quaters of the way down. Only leaked when the pressure built up from togging it a bit. Might be worth checking it fella.

Will buy coolant tomorrow morning and check for that crack. Topped it back up and been for a little run see if it stays and seems to be there still will check first thing in morning before I start it again.

Sorry for double post but quick one... If I get this coolant do I need to drain the water or is it ok to put it straight in?

As you can tell I don't play around with engines very often.

Cheers

I would take it to a garage if your going to a coolant change unless you know what to do. Also remember that the coolant level in the expansion tank changes depending on the temperature of the engine.
