How much BHP can my Intercooler handle???
Hi everyone. In the near future i will be looking to remap my car but i dont want to go down the FMIC road. I own a Version 1 and im not sure what the intercooler can handle...
My aim is around the 320 mark.
The car will be mapped with... Simtek ECU/550s/Td05/de-cat/up-rated fuel pump/up-rated panel filter
The CDB engine has been rebuilt with new pistons/crank/bearings/oil pump ect. So im happy to up the power a little.
Cheers. Andy

From what I've been told for our V1 & V2's you will be more than capable of getting that with:
1) Turbo back exhaust
2) 440cc injectors
3) Walbro fuel pump
4) Later version Sti intercooler
5) 97-00 MAP sensor
6) ESL Remap
You should get 320-330 bhp easily from that.
(Nice looking motor BTW).

Cheers for the info mate. I understand the supporting mods. To fit a later STI tmic i would have to change the inlet manifold. Just wondering the capability of v1 sti intercoolers.

280 typically. Some get to 300 (allegedly) - but it really is an interwarmer by then!
I certainly wouldn't want to hoon for any sustained length of time (esp in summer) on a early v.1/2 tiny slanty running over 280 (should you get that)!
As mentioned, move to a Blob STi TM.... Or even better, a FM. But I guess cash is a factor?
