Default Thermostat fitment.

In the next few weeks i am changing the waterpump and timing belt and rollers etc. How does the thermostat fit ? is it in the housing with the hose on or does it fit in the waterpump. Does it have a circlip to retain it ? I am ordering a new waterpump, thermostat and seal, i already have the timing belt kit. Does the waterpump gasket need sealant or just clean faces ? 2002 bugeye turbo.

thermostat is inside the waterpump were the hose locates in that housing, no circlip to retain it.

usually just clean the surfaces and fit a new water pump gasket and all should be ok.
