PULLEY SETS ! WORTH FITTING?
Hi , Just a quick question, before my engine gets a overhaul,
What are the + points for fitting lightweight Pully sets.
I will be having a lightweight flywheel. and uprated clutch, complete with fuel rails, to add to everything else I have had fitted already.
Any thoughts would help.
Paul.

There to reduce parasitic loss of power from the engine although most just fit them for the bling factor. If you have a monsterous engine that's had everything done to it and you want that extra 2 or so Bhp get one but not really too benifitial. If your looking for lightweight stuff do everything between the flywheel to the wheel. It will reduce your drivetrain losses and give you a higher whp figure.

Ta for the advice, I am running 500+H.p SO THEY WILL not add that much, and not realy into bling, spend more on the power side /
Will go for the Flywheel , and maybe a torque line prop shaft.

Never heard anything about the crank. On some cars the alternators need altering but even that's rare. If your chasing bhp then lightweight drive and prop shafts are the way to go after a flywheel. Ever weighed your wheels? We used to have a vts running 150bhp and 118whp after we lightened the flywheel and the front driveshafts and some 4.7kg alloys and we got the whp up to 139. That's for a front wheel drive car so the savings on a 4 wheel drive will be alot greater as the % loss is higher

I've gone to a lightweight one peice pulley because of this problem
Not ideal when the pulley falls apart. No damage this time other than the pulley. But it went with one hell of a bang when it hit the underside of the car.

Hey,
The weight saving from fitting uprated/lightweight pulley set's is amazing!
The weight reduction will lower the engines rotating mass which in turn will improve acceleration and enhance engine response.
Any rotating engine mass reduced is a +ve, Plus they look great in the engine bay...
We just so happen to have a group buy offer on these....>

Hey we've all got to join this site and start sometime as a "newb"!
Many of our customers cars have been featured in total impreza and Japanese performance magazine, if in doubt check out our website.
As for RCM's pulleys, we're pretty confident in saying that they are proven to be tried and tested...!
Anyway as previously mentioned lightweight pulleys are worthwhile fitting for both the additional strength and the weight saving alone, not to mention getting rid of the old ugly looking OE pulleys (which by now are rusty and the rubber starting to perish).
Regards
