Default Help Bosch 044 pump wiring

Hi evryone,
I'm about to fit a swirl pot to my 96STI. Iv got the pot, pipes & pump, but haven't sorted the electrical side yet.
I understand that I join in to the existing fuel pump wiring via a relay, but has anyone got any advice pictures or diagram for this, & what relay do I need & where can I get one.
Thanks Richard.

number 30 from the relay to th battery (fused)

85 on the relay to earth

86 to your original fuel pump feed from under the seat or from the relay under the dash
(link into it if still using your original pump as a lift)

87 is the positive to your fuel pump and obviously earth the other side.

i used a relay similar to this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12Volt-30A...item415c91bd65
but depending on your setup you want the fuse as close to the battery as possible (my pump and swirl pot are under the bonnet) i used 12 awg wire

Thanks P1 mine is going under the bonnet too so I should be ok with that relay fitted close to the battery. I'm assuming that the fact that relay is for a fog lamp is irrelevant,

Yes I think I know how to remove sills mate

Just thought of a bit of common courtesy for you to say what problems you encountered

But I can see yours is fitted in the engine bay so I'll hold out for someone who's done the boot setup

If I can ask a silly question- what do the numbers above refer to? Is it ecu outputs?

I didn't know if I tapped into an ecu wire if that would trigger the new fuel pump relay?

Those maybe really dumb questions- apologies in advance!

The wire should be black & red but check with voltmeter or test light. You can hear your in tank pump at the same time as your test lights on if it's the right wire. I followed P1s instructions & mine works perfectly, easy when someone tells you how.

no, you need to use another relay to drive the new fuel pump, you just use the old fuel pump power feed to trigger the new relay

What gauge wire did you use to connect into the live feed for the standard pump Richard? I see 12AWG (25amp) for the battery/external pump connections but the smaller gauge feed for the in-tank pump is on a 15amp fuse.
Thanks
Trev

I used 25amp wire for the whole instalation exactly as per P1s instructions & it's all working fine at 450BHP for nearly as long as this thread has been going. I didn't join into the fuel pump wires though, I went directly to the pump relay feed behind the dash & ran the wire across the car from driver side to passenger side then through the grommet in the bulkhead.
