Default engine oil advice needed

Hi. Im new with subaru. Got blob sti 2004 35k done. I wont use it on track very often mayby one or two times a year. I use it daily to get work and back. What engine oil is the best to use? I have been told Motul 300v 5w40. What do you use and how often you chage it? Book says 7.5k miles? Is it not to much?

The book should say, 10,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes soonest. I recently had the major 30K service on my 2005 STi and had Millers CFS 10W50 engine oil, as well as Millers CRX 75W90 diff and gearbox oil.

This engine oil has the triple esther technology and is fully suited to the odd track day.

Hi

The 300V is one of the best oils on the market and 5w-40 is the correct grade.

Cheers

Search is your friend there are 2 threads from the 31st and 30th of jan, but if your car is a uk car then 10k service intervals and a good 5w40 fully synthetic oil.

No experience with Motul but I have been using Millers for many years now. It's good stuff, right at the sharp end of lubrication technology and the triple ester formula is ideal for fast road and track. If your car is standard go for the 10w 40 if running more power then 10w 50. The Motul is more expensive and not avilable in 5 litres iirc.

They are on a par quality wise. 5w-40 or 10w-40 is best for a standard/lightly modded car, 10w-50 or 15w-50 for heavy mods and/or track use.

Cheers

That's very good stuff, ideal.

It's up to you whether you follow the service schedule in the manual or not. A good oil like that will be fine for more than 5k of road use.

Cheers

I was on one of those other threads & after some homework have just switched from Mobil1 to Fuchs 10/50 as recommended by RCM. If it's good enough for them it's good enough for me. I may go to the 15/50 for track use though & I'll be changing it every 4 to 5 K.

I did ring to Subaru Dealer to book service and they said they can not use my gearbox and diff oil as it has to be pump in and they have to use they own subaru made oil. Is that true? I wanted to put in Millers! Hmm
