Default Error Code 21?

Hello all having discovered how to read the error codes on my 95 turbo
2000 the only code showing is 21 engine coolant temp sensor can anyone
shed any light on what this actually means please.. Or is it just as it says
the sensor is a bit duff? As a side note the car doesn't overheat in anyway.

Reset the codes. Drive it up to temp. Check codes again. If it comes up a second time replace that sensor.

Reset the ecu and checked a day later and it's the same code 21 coolant temp
sensor, I've had a look and I have a 1 & 2 pin next to each other... The gauge reads fine which I think is the 1 pin plug so I'm guessing the 2 pin is the ecu
sensor? How hard is it to change as it seems quite well buried.. Or put it another way how much would it cost to get done
