Default turbo transplant sucess!!

installed the vf28 today, took 6 hours. took my time and didnt reallt hit any issues. hands and arms red raw tho, lol.
bolts were not to bad, needed a breaker bar for some. purchased some shock and unlock from halfords to spray on bolts, brilliant produck and only leave seconds befor you undo this nut. very highly recommended.

whats my next step? re-map i guess, can i do this before or after the fuel pump has been changed?
how much do i need the re-map?

any good mappers in the midlands anyone can recommend?

Drive it off boost till its been mapped.

I'd fit the pump before the remap.

Yes but I don't know how to set it.

Just drive off boost. I had a VF28 fitted a few days ago so i'm driving it only when I have to and keeping off boost till its mapped.

Don't drive on boost without getting it mapped for the different turbo or be prepared for a bank account bashing engine rebuild!

Hi mate if you want to enable you dont overboost it,take the T piece off that connects the wastegate actuator to the compressor housing and fit a straight piece of pipe and join them together. This way you will only be on actuator pressure with your boost solenoid disconnected - dead easy.

As for mapping you can try scoobyworld in Leicester,API in Leamington, thwaites in warwick or contact one of the mobile mappers ie: Bob Rawle, or jolly green monster
Vf28 good choice of turbo imho

Disconnect the rod that actuates the wastegate by removing the circlip at the wastegate end of the rod.
Then the wastegate will be open all the time and it won't boost.
That's what API did to mine until I ran it in anyways.
Still goes OK with no boost.

Yes or just pipe actuator to compressor cover on the turbo with a single pipe.

You will still get some boost if not careful no matter how you try to bypass the turbo working. I found this out from experience. Mine felt funny one day. So carried on for a bit thinking it was me, then decided it wasn't, pulled over and noticed my circ clip had popped off And arm had come off the top, but was still getting some boost at higher revs.

Google jolly green monster and his website should come up!!! I've just changed my turbo and drive my car round with no probs till it was remapped.. Jus made sure I didn't boost it atal.. Still can drive the car round fine with no boost!! Also I found when I put the turbo in if u don't put the restrictor pill in it won't boost over 10 psi so if ya a bit right footed jus take the pill out till ya get your remap

Restrictor pill is a tiny plastic pill with a small hole to retrict the presure thats sits inside the pipe that's conects to your actuator.. Think I'm rite in saying all actuators are set at 10 psi or so so the retrictor pill basicly tricks the actuator to get more boost!! Please though I'm not sayin this is the rite thing to do to remove it.. Just helped me not to over boost on mine
