Default Everyday scooby?

Would you say that a uk spec bug eye turbo is usable as an everyday car?

Do they do more than 200 miles to a tank of fuel these days? As my classic would only ever do 200 miles to a tank, regardless of how I drove it.

Cheers

I use my UK spec Blobeye as an everyday car.

I get a bit more than 200 miles to a tank.

My 1995 import does more than 200 miles per tank, and thats with a low ratio box. I`d love a 6th gear to make it better on the motorways but would be worth more than my car. lol.

I get around 230 day to day. On a 233 mile journey I achieved over 300......but God, that was a boring journey

i know the feeling, 60mph at 3250rpm realy need another gear,
but it is so much fun with the low ratio tho

I have a classic turbo for the last 11 years and have always averaged 250 to the tank every time mostly short fast blasts to work in the city and an occasional 50 mile journey

250 to 300 miles to around 50 litres on mine - mix of A, B and dual carriage ways (not too much city driving). Use it every day.

Hmmm, not that good then lol. I'd be filling up every other day lol. May have to consider a cheap runner as well.

What were you expecting? 220 BHP + AWD is going to be a little thirsty.... though having said that bhp for bhp, Scoobies are not as thirsty as they're made out to be in my experience..... e.g. I get similar mpg from my WRX (~26mpg) that my wife used to get from her 2.0TFSI Leon FR (~28mpg) and better mpg than her Cooper S (~25mpg).

If you're doing high mileage then a cheap commuter as well as an Impreza is a wise move - I used to do 140 miles per day and ended up getting a little 1.3 Toyota Yaris to save on fuel and wear and tear.

I used to get mid 30's from my Octavia vRS, but totally different car.

I currently have an MG ZT CDTi thats averaging 45mpg.

Its all down to insurance costs etc too. Plus tbh, the cost of another car, plus tax, plus insurance, wouldnt really be worth it, might as well just run the one car (a scoob).

At what point (miles wise) would a bottom end rebuild be required / recommended?

When I was doing the big miles, the Yaris was saving me at least £100 a month so was worth it for me - plus it saved racking up all the miles on the WRX.

As far as a bottom end rebuild goes, how long is a piece of string... Depends on how the car has been looked after - a well maintained one is capable of 200k, a poorly maintained one could be 50k miles. Most will do well over 100k with no problems.

I bought my blob eye sti in Liverpool. I live i Cambridge. In that jurney I've done 30.40mpg, speed around 75- 85 m/h with no boost, ones bit faster . I was very positive surprised for that consumption. I think you can do more in WRX. I can learn how , but now I do 18mpg and everyone nows how
