Strange noises
Ive got 2001 wrx uk300,
and when driving and take my foot off the accelerator peddle when in gear there is a noise that sounds like a nackered bearing rumble, then put the gas on slighty again and the noise goes,
and if i push the clutch in the noise goes again,,,
" i hear you all say clutch release bearing"
am 90% sure it isnt the clutch release bearing as it doesnt do it when the car a parked up running and I ingage the clutch, and dis-ingage... and there is no noise..... ive tried pulling the handbrake (not fully on) and pressing the foot brake and still no noise.. only when i take my foot off the gas peddle, on the overrun...
and the other way is if the car is driving i.e 60mph and i have the car in gear and take my foot off the accelerator the noise comes and then pull it out of gear with NO clutch the noise goes....
its like if there is no drive or torque in the gearbox or diff /shafts the noise comes back and soon as the drive/torque is back the noise goes...
bit hard to explain, but am hoping someone can shed some light on the situation....
