half boost and high idle
Hi,
Original thread seems to have gone on too long, so wanted to start fresh with current proceedings and faults...
1994 WRX STi import
After frying the wire to my O2 sensor resulting in breaking down on a duel carriage way roundabout, I have...
Replaced battery (yesterday)
Replaced O2 sensor (yesterday)
Replaced cabling to sensor (again, today)
Cleaned ICV (again, today)
Current faults:
Battery light comes on when engine starts, but immediately disappears with throttle (its a brand new battery?)
Cold idle is @ 1200-1300
Warm idle is @ 1200-1300 with "hiccups"
Hissing coming from Induction kit or boost solenoid
Car will only boost to 0.5 bar (originally boosted to 1.2 @ approx. 5000rpm)
'Check-engine' codes: 24 and 44
Removed south tubing from boost solenoid, there is no restrictor pill (I'm not sure if there ever was tho? I believe the boost solenoid is a 3 port from a V4 STi?)
Checked cabling to the injectors (After reading some previous posts with similar issues), and 1 has a nic in the cable. Will sort that tomorrow and advise outcome.
Questions:
Is there a way to test the Boost Solenoid, to see if it is dead, or working? Before I purchase another.
Could my car be in 'limp' mode?
Is there a quick test/improvisation I can use to replace the restrictor pill? Just to test until I get a new one delivered, should the car have one.
Any other thoughts or comments to add?
Regards, Steve.

Put it into test mode using plugs under dash. Theres a how to guide on here somewhere. In test mode the soloniod should click. Mig welding tip are great for use as restrictor pills. Can be bought from halfords or similar
