Turbo 2000 Hesitation
Hi guys,
My mate called me today who had my x reg turbo 2000 off me, the car has caused no dramas at all until now (he has had it for 7 months, it has not needed for anything and was due service about 2k ago)
Mods are, STI topmount, 100cell sport cat, Afterburner exhuast system, Afterburner panel filter and powerstation remap.
He has noticed slight hesitation at around 2-3k, i only just noticed it when i took it out yesterday, No warning lights are on ATM
So while we waited for plugs to be delivered we took the maf off to give it a clean (including battery off for 5 mins and all that) that didnt clear it.
Plugs done today now he got cheap denso ones so are they rubbish? i told him to stick NGK in there but he went with denso. now i didnt think it was plugs in the first place as it was fine when at where i think its richest but it does no harm in changing them
Still hesitation.
Now he thought poss fuel pump giving in but surely if its doing it at 2-3k then it would be worse at 5k when at peak boost and its working at a higher rate
Any suggestions

Im convinced its the maf but its been a big xmas for him and he really dont wanna pay out for a new maf, like i say im sure it is thats why i started there, got a mate with a bug that should have the same maf on it???
I suggested NGK7b's but he went denso (as per first sentance)
I'm sure we will get there in the end, i think its cos when the car went to him it was perfect it needed nothing as i kept it like that all the time, but now he has had his first impreza problem he wants to do it on the cheap but we all know buy cheap buy twice lol in this world

Failing that you dont have to spend loads on a new maf.I had a near brand new one fitted on my MY00 car and bought this as a spare:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300604187324
After cleaning it ,i fitted it on my car and car runs faultless and the new one can now be used as a spare if i need one.

had the same on mine....started stuttering at about 3/4k..
we tried everything,changed maf etc...
finally changed the fuel pump and it was ok.....
mine kind of held back, went, held back, and felt generally awfull when just going on boost....driving it normally it was fine....
hope its this. cheaper than a new maf....

Had the same on my 99 turbo 2000, hesitation between 2-3000 rpm, then sweet as a nut after that, was better warm than cold, mine turned out to be the Lambda sensor, i too had cleaned everything else and replaced the plugs and the leads, and even the coil pack, got a blue print lambda from a local motor factor for £50, problem solved

We found out that my bugeye maf wouldn't fit but still happening on his, so prob the lamba sensor
My bugeye also has a slight jerk around the 2/3k rev range but only on full throttle, just a thing of the car I suppose

Mine is doing exactly the same thing - i have cleaned the MAF sensor and cleaned the air filter so unless the MAF is faulty.
I have plugged the OBDII lead in and the lamba sensor seems to be working fine and no faults on the car yet still theres hesitation
