Hi All

Got a strange noise when the car is on full lock and slightly pressing the accelerater. It does also make a very faint noise when just turning the steering wheel but get worse when driving and on full lock. Would this be power sterring pump or steering rack? The car is a 53sti blobif that makes any differance.

What sort of noise is it? whinning/squealing? had a similar problem with my 53 blob sti so had a look under bonnet and found the power steering/altenator belt was worn so replaced it <£10 and problem solved hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. Its kind of a whining noise definately not sqealing. And get loader only when on full lock and car get under load nothing on tickover unless you turn the wheel then you can here it faintly.

sounds like the belt is slipping that runs your power steering pump. check for wear and make sure tension is ok and its not too slack.

Glad i found this thread since i have a squeeling noise on full lock but once i'm on the move theres no noise anymore only first thing when turing around in my drive??

Is it posibly the belt and if so how easy is it to change for a non mechanic type like me?
