on friday was driving my impreza turbo classic and suddenly i noticed a banging knocking noise under the car floor but only does it in 1st gear and very faintly in tick over and the beggining of 2nd gear but when driving normal speed cant feel or hear it, you can feel the banging on the gear stick when its happening. i did a post on here friday and a guy said drive shaft was just wondering if anyone else has had same problem or heard of it before also could it be to do with the prop shaft? also for a few months there has been a squeaking noise but thought it was brakes and on saturday i checked the gearbox oil and was low so topped it up.

If it was driveshaft I don't think you would be able to hear it on tick over?

oh ok its only very faint in tick over and very beginning of 2nd gear, so is it more likely to be a problem with the prop shaft as feels like its under the car and not in front, it feels like its around the gearbox area? i could imagine if it was the prop shaft that that would be the banging under the car if it was loose or damaged.
