Currently have a simtek with switchable maps, one for high boost/ v-power, and one for standard fuel and lower boost. Having realised that the latter is never used I was thinking of taking my mappers original advice and having a map for v-power + meth mix. Just wondered what sort of power increase I am likely to see from a 20% meth mix, just roughly?

I'm having my car mapped on 20% methanol on Monday. Been advised I should see a gain of around 10%.
Can't wait...Took the day off work today as the methanol was being delivered.

Oh yes. Bhp claims not very much, but the Torque will make you smile Either way in my opinion its win win. Cheaper fuel & more power !

Yep, meth is alot cheaper than VPower.

 

Why do people mix it with normal Ron fuel then? I thought it was meth and v-power people mixed? Excuse my ignorance! The other thing is, do I need a knock link when using a meth mix or does the c/e warning light feature of my simtek suffice?

 

V-power circ £1.40 per litre
Methanol circ 48p - £1.00 per litre depending how much and where you buy it from.

Made 476/420 on vpower and 516/470 on 20% meth and also gained about 400 rpm in the spool up and a lot more punch in the mid range

 

meth took me from 330 to 360bhp

 

On std tesco 99 I get 396
On 99& 20% meth I get 422

 

540bhp on v power and 601 bhp on v power and 20% meth.
The torque gain was superb

 

The warning light is suffice, you will be further from knock with Meths.
