i was driving my classic impreza earlier and after an hour i noticed a clicking noise at slow speed, i thought it might be something stuck in the wheel arch or something rubbing like my mud flaps but i noticed i can feel a vibration on the gearnob at the same time and it seems to be in 1st & 2nd gear does anybody know what this could be or anyone had the same problem or heard of this before?

Driveshaft? Do you get a slight clonk when touching the brakes?

oh really i hope it is only that because wouldnt be too hard or expensive to do, does it sound like that then to you? i havent noticed a clonk noise when touching the breaks yet as only happened earlier and havent driven it since.

this morning i checked the gaerbox oil level and it was very low so topped it up but still making same clinking tapping noise and vibration but seems to be mainly in 1st gear but goes away in higher gears does it definitely sound like a driveshaft problem and is taking it out the only way to know if either are knackered because my friend looked at it today and said they dont seem loose and the boots are still in good condition also not long ago i replaced both cv joints.
