Default Hawkeye mods advice

Hi Guys ,

Im in process of finding a nice hawkeye 06/07 . Im not going down the engine tuning route straight away as i want to concentrate on looks as thats what i think the hawkeye is best for . Im not into track racing etc so i dont see the point tbh .

Firstly suspension : I want the car to look well lowered and also to handle good , being able to adjust the suspension would be beneficial so could someone recommend a good coilover kit that isnt ridiculous money ?

Second : I want a nice big exhaust back box for it , something with a good rumble off it , maybe 3-4" tailpipe

Third : Front Splitter , are there different front splitters for the STi or are they all the same ? Some of them look better than others or maybe its just my eyes !!!!

Thats all and any advice would be much appreciated

if you get can a STI hawk get that, way better than any gb270 which is just a tarted up edition of a wrx
As for suspension it really depends what budget you have in mind, bc racing are decent coilvers which traders sell on here for approx £600-700 from memory, AST are great ( and used in the type 25's from litchfield) but priced around £1500 then theres the king daddy of them all Ohlins but you best have the best end of £3k for those

Thanks mate , yeh ive looked at pics just now of a GB270 and it dont excite me like a nice hawkeye STi does .

The AST"s sound good , i dont mind spending that if its right for the car and to get it looking how i want it . Are there any kits that can be adjusted electronically without taking wheels off etc or are they in the silly money bracket ??? Cheers

If you get the sti , it's fine the way it is , if you ain't doin track days , start messing with the geometry set up fitting coil overs , & next your goin to need it hunter electronically aligned , then there's roll, camber, sway wich you are goin to need adjusted , upgraded to suit - m8 leave it as stock , buy a decent set of tyres & ur good to go !!!

If all you want to do is get it sitting "right" then just change the springs for some eibach with a 20mm drop you can also adjust the spring rate.

i would suggest alignment as a matter of course, along with a few other handling mods.

I agree, change springs, fit some good tyres and get the geometry set up correctly. Job done! Massive improvement over standard for a road car!

Go STI, cheap now!

Thanks guys much appreciated . Think the Eibach springs and the geometry set up is the way to go and the cheapest also !!!! With the Geometry set up is that a specialised scooby garage or do ordinary mechanics do it ??

Hi matey i would go with coilovers if you are like the idea electronically adjusting from car something like Tein,Cusco and few others.

If you want good suspensions setup,i would go with as above with AST,but BC have good review, really depends what you want from suspension..

Good backbox i would go with Miltek system,H&S system too have nice sound,Blitz Nu Spec is nice but too loud(have search on youtube)

Front splitter,i'll have look for STi V-Limited or if you like the Carbon,i would go with Chargespeed

The Hawk STI standard suspension is far too jumpy for UK roads. As previously posted, Eibach springs will give the car a far more controlled ride over uneven surfaces. That will make the car far more enjoyable to drive.

I have a standard STi Hawkeye and its 30% better in all departments my my last scoob-a mapped UK300 with a full H&S system. I have Tein suspension on the Hawk setting it down nicely and that pretty much is all I need for Uk roads and the way I drive. Best car I have owned as a whole package. You will not regret it.
