Default Centre coilpack, 98 only?

Hi guys, if an engine from a classic has a central coilpack does it mean it's a 1998 or phase 1.5?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply
So am I correct in saying that in 97/98 they made the phase 1.5 motor which is identifiable by the central coilpack? Any other way of distinguishing? I just want to be certain my inlet manifold will bolt to the engine I buy.
Thanks again Ian.
