Same as a version 5/6 STI, same map but with more knock correction added, so its a VF28 turbo, standard STI "forged" pistons for v5/6 cars, fast rack steering, but if you look at it basically its a v5 car (not a 6 as its based on a MY99 car) STI in a type R shell.
thanks tony with it being a 99 its able to accept the ecutek remap then? what the forged engine stable to power wise and the vf28? thanks
Its not a forged engine, just the pistons and those are not the best forged items in the world (say as apposed to the new age STI pistons), the rest is, well similar to the standard turbo/wrx, same rods, crank etc.
VF28 should see you to 320-330bhp.
plenty of p1,s selling for silly money infact i know of a genuine 1 at less than 5k,i know what your thinking i cant beleive it either
wouldnt say thats silly money for an 11 year old car ? , think the p1's are overpriced compared to what you can get for similar cash of a normally priced p1
will someone explain why you would spend more on a p1 than a type r ? and btw type r's are 2 door sti's are they not ?
not being biased towards them , they look great but just a blue type r to me , with less ? no dccd etc

did you look at sti 8's at all as im touch and go which to go for
no m8 there not realy for me look to comfy and heavy i wanted a toy rather than a cruiser i tell you what though ive just been offered a 2.5 6speed p1 for 7.5k crazy ap brakes the lot he could break it for more
As much as i love classics.... Sti 8 has more potential i think. If you evere decide to go for bigger power than 330 bhp you'll spend almost twice as much on a classic than you would on new age to get them to the same reliable power level.
