Default Over boosting - advice please

Had a track day yesterday and on the way there the impreza hit fuel cut as the boost was going off the scale.

Spent a little while at the track trying to eliminate various air leaks in the actuator lines but in the end it was still doing it.

Had to run at actuator pressure for the entire day which holds a steady 0.6 bar.

My question is that I pressurised the pipework using a footpump up to 20psi with no leaks (including the solenoid in its closed state) so I'm pointing a finger at the control solenoid itself (sticking open) or whatever controls that (signal from the map sensor?) What do you think?

Every time I messed about with it it would creep up to 1.4 bar then drop back to 1.1 which is normal but as I got into 4th and 5th would just go off the scale. It had been working fine until yesterday.

To add also to get it to run at actuator pressure all I did was block the pipe off to the 2 port solenoid, which again says to me everything up to that point is OK.

actually I just took it out again and it now only happens if you push the throttle to the floor straight away. Boosts up to 1.4 then drops to 1.1 and stays. If I push the throttle open slowly it doesnt overshoot, just goes up to 1.1 and stays steady. Just swapping out the actuator to see if that helps.

stop trying to drive through it and get it to a specialist before you kill the engine.

Hi
I had a similar problem when i picked mine up.
My mate had a look and worked out it was a splt in the rubber that connects the air filter/induction kit to the inlet
1.4 bar then steady 1.1
hope this helps

Nope not a decat. I'll check all the hoses for splits then.

Checked 'em, all fine. Funny I changed the actuator and only made 0.6 bar, then put the suspect one on and the same problem?? Solenoid ticking away when ECU reset running and its opening and closing, restrictor pill fitted too.

if all the plumbing is in correct place then most likely to be your actuator sticking and not opening the wastegate try to manualy push it open to seeif it is sticking
