Default whats that wire for??

its at the bottom of the downpipe on my my97 sti. the lambda is at the top but this is another sort of sensor im guessing?
any ideas?

Unless Ive had the p1ss taken out of me as well, Ive heard the cat on fire sensor mentioned before.

No p1ss take, cat on fire/egt sensor, a form of misfire detection I believe, only fitted to jdm cars.

Don't think you'll see much running problems but probley put the CEL on.

+1 temp sensor for cat and only on JDM's.

Had one 'attched' to the underneath of my '96 WRX, well it was stuffed into the heat shield as it had the cats removed

Didn't affect running at all & if remember correctly if you earth it it keeps the check-light out.
