why is my car being like this?
my 1996 wrx v limited keeps cutting out when coming to a stop it has been doing it every now and then for a while but now seems to be doing it all of the time i come to stop. ive noticed the BOV is sticking open and whilst its open it revs all over the shop once it shuts it idles fine and doesnt stall! the car had the BOV already on it when i got the car i cant see any make on it so i assume its just a cheap one!
ive just ordered a standard recirc one and im hoping that will solve the problem. has any one else had anything like this happen? was it just as simple as the BOV being **** or could it be more serious??
any help much appreciated! cheers

BOVs that externally vent on the original MAF management system will always cause a problem to the idling and low load as they allow unmetered air in after the MAF.

cheers tizerboy appreciated!
still hoping it might only be the cheap BOV though lol
would a faulty maf or idle control sensor cause the BOV to stay open slightly?

Cant be. If it was it would be sucking air straight into the inlet system. With no boost the engine is just like a pump and sucking air in through the filter/maf/ intercooler etc. If anything at all is open air will be sucked in that isnt measured by the maf

Every one I've seen does it, the diaphragm inside them opens the valve over the given spring pressure under vacuum and boost. That's why it causes a problem with Mafs as they receive un-metered air.

BOV Is open on tick over and closes when you open the accelerator. It's the vacume in the manifold caused by the closed throttle that opens the VTA BOV. When there is pressure in the manifold the BOV is closed.

Nar mate. I'd go for MAF. Where are you based. I'm sure there must be someone local to you that could lend you theirs to help diagnose. Dump valve wise I would go standard re-circ or dump valve delete. If your near Huddersfield call round and il have a look
